……because I am totally hooked on the London 2012 Olympics.
Usually I am a total sportphobe, I find any kind of competitiveness, distasteful and cannot stand the sound of sport commentary.
I tried to time my last Paris trip so I would be out of the country,because I have been dreading this for years.
Of course I mistimed the trip and am in the UK during the 2012 Olympics.
So I decided that as there would be media overkill and I couldn’t escape, I would embrace it and take an interest.
WOW! what a change. I can’t wait to get home to see the next chapter of the story. I have got to know all the characters and from gymnastics to cycling to rowing to swimming judo and shooting, I have bit my lip, shouted and cheered, team GB and cried tears of joy and disappointment for the competitors form all countries.
Today we have won three gold medals for rowing and cycling and bronze for judo, swimming and rowing
Now the athletics is starting.!
Yay!

Even though we were almost completely cut off from the news in Alstonefield, everyone's pride in team GB was contagious. It was fun to hear the constant updates and commentary. Congratulations to team GB and to all of the other athletes! I've always liked the Olympics and find it inspiring to watch the stories unfold.

Thanks for you good wishes for team GB. I have a new perspective on sport after watching this. Do you know that Jason Kenny, the gold medallist cycle sprinter, comes form Bolton…..more claim to fame!…when you train on our hills you can win gold medals!Love Denise
