A couple of years ago, at the Musee d’Art Modern in Paris, I had an overwhelming emotional reaction this painting by an artist called Gerhard Richter. For some reason it stirred something deep within my soul, which bubbled up and I stood and sobbed uncontrollably with tears streaming down my face. ..a bit embarrassing for Micheal at the time…… I know nothing about art. Did not even study it at school and had never heard of the German artist. I think this reaction has a name but I can’t remember.
So I was thrilled when Michael saw that there is a Richter exhibition showing at the Pompidou.
I was amazed at the diversity of Richters work. he paints everything form birth to death, changing his style often and not fitting into any genre, so is uniquely himself.
The painting didn’t make me cry this time. but I stood and immersed myself in it’s cool depths for a long time.
Loved the exhibition.
love from Paris.
