Dylan Parmentier. Paris

Paris day four. THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING.

I came across the exhibition about Bob Dylan at the Cite de la Musique by accident, whilst going for a  cycle ride by myself on Tuesday afternoon.

Whilst Bob Dylan was not my favourite musician of my youth,( I was a Beatles and Rolling stones girl, ) I did like the poetry of Dylan’s  songs and this exhibition reminded me of them and the idealism of my youth.
The irony is, now hearing these revolutionary songs,  nearly 50 years later I realise that nothing really changes and the inequalities Dylan sang about may have gone, but they have been replaced by different ones.
Every generation sees their society in a different light and likes to rebel against it.  I was surprised to see so many young people at the exhibition . Dylans  themes obviously still have meaning for them

One of the secrets of the success of our relationship is that we give each other space and on holiday we tend to spend alternate days doing separate things.  So Michael had gone off to do “Michael” things and I had taken out a velib.
I like to keep fit, so even though there is a lift to our 6th floor apartment I have been climbing the 115 stairs every day…..it IS getting a little easier!
So today I decided to go for a velib ride to continue the fitness theme and to work off all those pastries I have been eating. Well that just gives me an excuse to eat more!
We had been spending the morning browsing the Parmentier market on Boulevard Richard Lenoir between rue Oberkampf and rue Jean Pierre Timbauld. this is different from the Richard Lenior market near the Bastille on Thursdays and Sundays.  Parmienter  is much more a local market,
Michael bought salmon and prawns, avocados, tomatoes and fruit.  I bought some potatoes from a stall that sold ONLY potatoes, many different varieties.  We also got some Comte cheese to finish our meal tonight.
To be continued about my bike ride.
